Rooted In Mission. Powered by Philanthropy.

Our Mission: To develop and support innovative media and technology that advance mental and behavioral health.

The Mindful Media Foundation (MMF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit leveraging venture philanthropy to build the Mindful Media Network — a public media platform designed for children and families.

Rooted in science, built around co-viewing, and focused on measurable outcomes, our work promotes emotional wellness, strengthens relationships, and supports healthy screen habits across home, school, and clinical settings.

We design and fund emotionally intelligent content and interactive media that foster joy, resilience, and reflection — developed in partnership with researchers from the world’s leading healthcare institutions.

Why Now - And Why this Matters

Children now spend over 6 hours a day on screens. But most content is driven by engagement algorithms—not emotional well-being. The result? Rising anxiety, attention issues, and disconnection from caregivers.

But it’s not just children. The growing mental health crisis—spanning postpartum depression, youth suicide, PTSD, and the unmet needs of neurodiverse communities—points to a deeper failure: our systems are not designed to support families before they reach crisis. Society needs media that supports mental health, not undermines it.

An innovative media model that supports prevention, fosters emotional insight, and empowers families, governments, and institiutions through storytelling, science, and ethical design.

We are trailblazing a new category where public media meets public health.

What Makes The Mindful Media Foundation Different

We combine the science of behavioral health with the power of storytelling, delivered through a trusted media network designed to serve families, educators, and health systems alike. Our model is built around three pillars:

Media

We develop and support emotionally intelligent content designed for co-viewing, co-play, and real-world connection. Our programming promotes social-emotional growth, mentalization, and healthy screen habits — all grounded in joy and play psychology.

Research

We partner with world-class researchers and clinicians to study how co-viewed, emotionally intelligent media supports emotional development, stress regulation, and family wellbeing — including early childhood pilots with hospital networks and school systems.

Technology

We utilize ethical, AI-powered tools that make screen time smarter. Our interactive features turn passive viewing into moments of reflection and connection, personalized to support caregivers and children alike.
